The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is bold, unafraid, and very satisfying to watch. It has a plot, but doesn’t let that get in the way of having a great time.

Black Lagoon: what happens when shounen grows up and gets a job…with the Yakuza.

Yes, Black Lagoon is bloody, violent, over-the-top action with an anti-heroine who looks like she was built for fanservice…but it works. Brilliantly.

Ergo Proxy

Think of Ergo Proxy as Evangelion without the teen angst.

Ergo Proxy is a rich blend of well-realized characters, excellent animation, and dark surroundings. Not for the faint of heart or someone looking for a brief diversion, Ergo Proxy is anime for grownups. Occasionally, for pretentious grownups.
